Ingrid Skogsmo has been appointed new Vice President of AB Volvo’s strategy department. Skogsmo is currently director of Volvo Car Corporation’s Safety Center and will assume her new position on January 1, 2008.

Volvo Trucks North America, part of the Volvo Group, is divesting its entire 28.68-percent ownership in U S truck stop chain Petro Stopping Centers Holding L P to TravelCenters of America and Hospitality Properties Trust.
Total deliveries of trucks from the Volvo Group’s three truck companies decreased 17% through April this year, compared with the year-earlier period. Deliveries from Mack were down 54%, while deliveries from Renault Trucks were down 10%. Deliveries from Volvo Trucks decreased 8% compared with the year-earlier period.
Following the huge success of the BRT bus routes in Göteborg, the city is now taking a further step by increasing bus capacity. Göteborgs Spårvägar has ordered an additional seven of Sweden’s longest buses, the Volvo 7500 bi-articulated bus with room for 165 passengers.
The markets in Eastern Europe have been growing rapidly for the Volvo Group and sales in the region increased by nearly 40 percent during 2006. The Volvo FH has won the 2007 Fleet Vehicle Award in the Fleet Awards Polska Trucks category in a ceremony held recently in Warsaw. International transport and haulage company Transdanubia has chosen the latest version of Dynafleet, Volvo’s transport information system, for its 350 trucks. Over the next three years the company will replace its existing system with the new Dynafleet “Operate” package.
